This tower is one of three at Battery Mount Vernon, located in Fort Hunt Park Virginia. The towers reach up to the level of the battery, where the large guns were located. I don't know the purpose of these towers, but wonder if perhaps they were used to raise ammunition from the ground to the guns at the battery level? Or maybe to quickly remove spend ammunition?
Passion leads the way and my camera follows. Though most drawn to scenes of the outdoors, whether they be grand landscapes, intimate details, or life in all its many forms, I also feel pulled towards other subjects and scenes. Beauty is everywhere if we keep our eyes open to it, and it can take any shape or form. If it speaks to me I photograph it. Thank you for visiting and for your interest in my work. Hello Todd, The other day I saw many more photos of the battery emplacements at Fort Hunt on youor site...but I cannot find them now. Did you take them down or am I not looking in the right place? Thank you, Rosalyn Bellis P.S. Did you use to live in Cabot AR?
Todd Henson replied:
Hi, Rosalyn. They're still there. Go to my blog at https://toddhensonphotography.com/blog and type "Fort Hunt" in the search field on the right side. Hit Enter and it should bring up a page showing all the posts. There are currently 4 posts specifically about Fort Hunt. You can contact me via my site (Resources/Contact) if you have any questions. Thanks for your interest. And no, I've never been to Cabot, AR.
